Sundays & Ladies' Holidays

Sundays are holidays.

In Ashtanga yoga, "ladies' holiday" refers to the traditional recommendation for women to take a break from practice during their menstrual period, typically for the first 3 days, as the downward flow of energy during menstruation is considered to be counteracted by the upward flow of energy from engaging bandhas. The menstrual cycle is viewed as a sacred and natural part of being a woman.

While the tradition exists, it's ultimately a personal choice how many days (if any) a woman chooses to take for a break. Some women may even choose to practice during their period, depending on their individual needs and comfort levels. Ladies' holidays can be over and above the moon days or sundays, if the days do not coincide.
